If you ever dreamed of saying “I do” with the famous Red Rocks in Colorado as your backdrop, then you’ll love the Red Rocks Trading Post. This is the perfect wedding venue if you want the iconic towering sandstone monoliths that make Red Rocks so special to be a part of your celebration.
As a Colorado elopement and wedding photographer, I love how unique and affordable this wedding venue is. It is truly the ideal spot for a stunning mountain-view ceremony without the commute.
Let’s dive into more about planning your celebration at the Red Rocks Trading Post!
The Red Rocks Trading Post is a beautiful and affordable wedding venue close to Denver. This venue is only 30 minutes away from Downtown Denver. Plus, it is right next to the beloved Red Rocks Amphitheater.
If you choose to get married, your celebration will take place in an intimate garden setting. You’ll have epic views of the Red Rocks formations, the valley, and dramatic rock structures. This venue checks all the boxes if you want to stay close to Denver, but you also want nature to be a part of your celebration.
This venue can hold anywhere from 100 – 200 guests. It is a nontraditional wedding venue that blends both nature and history. Also, if you know you want to have a smaller celebration, Red Rocks Trading Post has affordable packages for micro weddings. You can learn more about everything they have to offer here.
Did you know you can have more than just your ceremony at the Red Rocks Trading Post? The Red Rocks Trading Post also offers you the option to have your reception in their gorgeous Rock room, which, fun fact, happened to be built around one of the famous red rocks. Plus, it also has gorgeous mountain views.
Another reason I love this venue is because of all the different attractions in the area. You can have a beautiful, scenic wedding out in nature, and then you and your guests can enjoy the city of Denver.
You can also visit other attractions, such as exploring the beautiful city of Golden, enjoying a drink at Coors Brewery, or having a meal at the famous Fort Restaurant.
If you and your partner are avid hikers or love spending time outdoors, you can both enjoy the trails in the area, such as The Trading Post Trail or The Red Rocks Trail, or go biking together on the trails!
Colorado weather varies drastically depending on the time of year you want to get married here. The Red Rocks Trading Post is available to use year round and each season has something different to offer you.
Spring and fall will offer you milder temperatures. Plus, if you choose to get married here in the fall you’ll also have colorful and vibrant foliage as part of your backdrop.
Summer has much warmer weather but can also bring with it afternoon thunderstorms. Winter will be much colder and you and your guests will want to be well prepared for the snow. I personally recommend summer and fall weddings here!
Jessi and Bret had a stunning summer wedding at the Red Rocks Trading Post. They chose to get married in Colorado because they have traveled to Colorado together a few different times, and they love how Colorado feels like their home away from home.
Jessi, Bret, and I had previously had a sunrise session at Trail Ridge Road at Rocky Mountain National Park before I photographed their wedding.
“We met working Monday nights together at a climbing gym! He was my boss so it was forbidden love.” – Jessi
Bret was so excited to start their lives together that he threw out his plan to propose to Jessi during a trip to Spain and spontaneously proposed a few days before. These two were truly meant to be and I am so glad that I got to be a part of capturing their love story.
These two are both fun-loving and goofy people and they wanted to make sure that that stood out in their photos. However, they also wanted to get some more artistic ones that really showed off the beauty of their surroundings.
I have a lot of couples who come to me and are a bit nervous about “posing” in front of the camera for the first time, just like these two were. But, I promise you that it is not as scary as you think and I’ll help walk you through step by step to make sure that you feel totally comfortable and are able to get all of the incredible photos that you have dreamed of.
Their wedding day started with Jessi having an emotional first look with her bridesmaids and then a heartfelt first look with Bret. Afterwards it was time for these two to finally tie the knot.
We couldn’t have asked for better weather as it was a perfect Colorado summer day as Jessi and Bret celebrated starting this next chapter surrounded by their closest family and friends.
After their ceremony, we made sure to capture some family portraits, wedding party portraits, and couple portraits at the venue with the Red Rocks as their backdrop before concluding their wedding day.
