Finding a wedding venue that truly feels like it’s one-of-a-kind – rather than just another version of something you’ve seen before can be a challenge. However, the Ironworks wedding venue in Denver is anything but ordinary.
This venue has its own character and charm that sets it apart in the best way possible. From the moment you walk into the interior, you’ll be taken away by the “Denveresque” style and beautiful architectural details. This is a venue that once you see it, you can’t forget it.
I had the chance to capture Maura and Charlie’s wedding at Ironworks, and it took my breath away. I’m giving you a behind-the-lens look at Ironworks with details about this wedding venue and Maura and Charlie’s wedding celebration.
Read on to learn more about Ironworks wedding venue.
I adore Ironworks for its historic Art Deco charm and one-of-a-kind design choices. There’s so much to love about this unique venue, located in the heart of Denver. It has a rich history and an urban chic setting.
Ironworks used to be Midwest Steel, and this building dates back to 1903. Both inside and outside the venue, you’ll encounter 1920s glamour, Art Deco, mid-century modern details, and early industrial elements.
The building includes a beautiful bar, a gorgeous curved staircase, exposed brick, multiple custom-made chandeliers, and a patio you and your guests can enjoy. The patio is perfect for an intimate cocktail hour, or you and your guests can even use it as an additional lounging space.
Ironworks is ADA-accessible and includes an elevator for you and your guests. You can plan a micro wedding, elopement, small wedding, or wedding with up to 300 guests here.
If you want to celebrate with 300 guests, you can use their open plan, which includes a large banquet hall, mezzanine, full bar and kitchen, and more. Quick tip: If you go to Ironwork’s website, you can also take a virtual tour to get a better idea of everything the venue includes.
I really feel like words and images can’t do justice to just how stunning Ironworks truly is. This is the perfect venue for you if you want your wedding to have a vintage and luxurious atmosphere and you want a visually rich backdrop for your celebration.
Before I dive into all the amazing details about Maura and Charlie’s wedding at Ironworks, I just have to mention the funniest little coincidence. Turns out, Maura, Charlie, and I all lived in the same apartment building – but we never ran into each other!
However, it seems we were meant to cross paths – just in a different way than we would have expected. Who knows, maybe your wedding photographer is also literally just around the corner.
They ended up choosing this venue because, once upon a time, Maura had spotted the outside of the Ironworks building while she was hanging out at a brewery across the street. This happened before she even met Charlie.
She had always thought about getting married in a brick building, but the first time she saw it, she didn’t know anything about Ironworks or whether they hosted weddings.
Fast-forward to after she met Charlie and they got engaged, and Ironworks popped back into her mind as a potential option for their wedding. When they visited the location, it was so much more than they could have ever dreamed of, and they knew it was a perfect match. Maura is also a huge fan of the Art Deco aesthetic, and they told me they felt like this venue was made for them.
On the day of their wedding, Charlie and Maura chose to skip the traditional getting-ready coverage. Instead, they began their day with heartfelt first looks. Charlie first shared a first look with his mom, and then Maura entered the space by walking down the large, grand staircase where she first shared an emotional first look with Charlie.
She then shared a touching and just as emotional first look with her father. Adding to how special this day was Maura actually found her wedding dress on consignment giving a second life to a gorgeous dress.
After their first looks, Maura and Charlie had all their family photos and couple portraits taken pre-ceremony so that they could really enjoy their time with their guests after the wedding.
They planned their ceremony downstairs next to the captivating bar, set against the exposed brick wall underneath a dazzling chandelier. After their ceremony, everyone headed upstairs for a seated dinner, where heartfelt speeches and toasts were made before the couple headed back downstairs for their first dance.
As soon as their first dance ended, everyone went back downstairs to dance the night away and enjoy the wedding cake.
I wanted to give a special shout-out to all the incredible vendors involved in Maura and Charlie’s day! All of these vendors were incredible and made the day so special.
