Are you dreaming of an accessible, dog friendly intimate elopement with iconic Colorado mountain views? Loveland Pass better be on your list! This spot has unreal views from some of the easiest pull of spots and even lakeside access! It’s quite a bit less busy due to its high elevation and sometimes extremes temperatures, but can make for an absolutely magical backdrop.
Gina+Jimmy selected the iconic Loveland Pass off Highway 6 near Dillon, Colorado for their late September elopement. They took advantage of Colorado law that doesn’t require an officiant to get married! This allowed them to keep their elopement as intimate as can be, with only their dog in attendance. This is an accessible location that doesn’t require a permit for small weddings/elopements. While it’s technically a free place to wed, that means that you are not granted exclusivity which can be especially tricky during busy season! To avoid groups: sunrise, weekdays and off season are recommended. With that being said, this area is expansive and there are lots of nooks to get a sense of privacy, even on a busier day!
Dogs: Yes
Fee: No Fee or Permit required for smaller groups abiding by Leave No Trace.
Accessibility: Dirt trail, wheel chair accessible most often. Trail can become snow-packed or icy. About a 5 minute walk from parking lot. Roughly 20 parking spots in small lot, fill up extremely fast during peak season (May-October). Limiting cars/Carpooling strongly advised.
Where to stay: Frisco, Breckenridge, , Dillon, Silverthorne,
Best Season: Road Accessibility can be challenging during Winter months. I recommend this spot in June-October.
